Boroondara Eagles have inflicted Caulfield’s second heavy defeat in as many weeks, triumphing 5-0 at Knox Regional Football Centre on Sunday.
Amy Jackson starred with a hat-trick – but could have scored four if not for a saved penalty – with Sarah Jacobs and Canadian import Taryne Boudreau adding goals of their own.
Despite copping seven goals last weekend, Caulfield started in bright spirits, earning an early corner only to see Lucrece Laverdure’s effort fly just high of the crossbar.
Down the other end, Amy Jackson teed up Taryne Bourdeau in the box, but the latter’s left foot effort missed the far post.
Victory W-League midfielder Jackson was in the thick of the action again, forcing Jaye Todd into a fingertip save with a powerful effort from the edge of the area.
Bourdeau squandered a similar opportunity moments later, rounding Todd following a Gummer through ball but not finding the net from a tight angle.
Emma Hubbard then had a forgettable period, hitting the post twice in two minutes; the first after a Sarah Jacobs layoff, the second following an Alex Gummer cross.
The relentless pressure was too much for Caulfield, with another Boroondara effort saved by Todd, before Bourdeau pounced on the rebound to bundle the ball home for a 20th minute lead.
Caulfield worked their way into the game for the remainder of the half, moving the ball more confidently and mustering a few half-chances without threatening Anna Lanning too much.
With moments remaining before the whistle, Jackson marauded into the box and was taken down without the ball, but her penalty was held by Todd to keep the scores 1-0 at the break.
The visitors were unable to hold the hosts off after the interval, as the floodgates opened shortly thereafter.
Jackson was the first to benefit minutes after the restart, running in on a deflected save to tap in Boroondara’s second and deflate the spirited Cobras.

Sarah Jacobs was then involved in the next two goals, both from the corner spot.
The first goal was credited as hers after a curling set-piece evaded everyone on its way into the net, while the second one was met by a rising Jackson and headed home emphatically.
The W-League midfielder then completed her hat-trick minutes from time, running into the box and cutting back the ball before Caulfield’s poor clearance landed back at her feet for an easy finish.
Boroondara now face a tough ask away to Heidelberg United next week, while Caulfield will hope to pick up their first points of the season against fellow WPL newcomers South Yarra.
