Geelong-based consortium Galaxy United have today announced Vincenzo Ierardo as their senior coach for their debut WNPL campaign in 2016.
The former Geelong SC and Skilleroos coach lead Fawkner SC’s mens to a first place finish in State League 4 North in a dominant season for his side.
His playing career was split between State League sides Sunbury United, Hume United, Cairnlea FC as well as a playing-coach role with the aforementioned Geelong and Fawkner.
The young coach has also previously had experience both within the NTC system and at Melbourne Victory Women’s as an assistant coach under the tutelage of Dave Edmondson, where he oversaw the development of Victory W-League players Adriana and Melissa Taranto, Annabel Martin and Sandringham SC’s Emma Robers to name a few.
“After initial conversations with the club, it became obvious that the vision of the club was something that appealed to Vince, who brings with him a wealth of experience and a professional approach as well as the ability to help develop and prepare girls for the next level in their football journey,” Galaxy United said via Facebook this morning.
“After speaking with the club committee and [Technical Director] Pete Bradley, it was clear to Vince that he shared the club vision and clear long-term focus on advancing the game in the region.
“We at Galaxy United FC are absolutely thrilled to have a Head Coach like Vince, who shares our philosophy and vision for the development of talented female footballers in our region.”
He becomes the seventh coach to fill a spot at senior level in the WNPL, with Bayside United the only club yet to formally announce their coach for the 2016 season.
