Melbourne Heart FC’s Aziz Behich believes goals are just around the corner as his side prepares for their Round 6 clash against Sydney FC on Friday night.
“Once we start hitting the back of the net I think we won’t stop,” he said.
“We’ve got goals that we want to achieve and I think we are heading in the right direction.”
Despite still chasing those elusive first three points of the season, the fullback explained that morale was still high amongst the playing group.
“We’ve still got a positive buzz about us and all the boys are pretty confident,” Behich said.
“We’ve got a tight group; we’ve got good leaders in the group just to make sure that we are still heading in the right direction.”
Heart has only found the back of the net twice this season despite stringing together some impressive performances, but Behich is undeterred by the situation.
“We are playing well; the last couple weeks especially we are creating more [chances] than the opposition – we just need to be a bit more ruthless in front of goal so hopefully Friday that can change.”
“It is only five games into the season and you want to start [winning] early but the thing with the A-League is that if you win one or two games you’re back up there again so hopefully we can turn it around.”
Behich, who returned to the A-League on a one-year loan deal from Turkish outfit Bursaspor also outlined his motivation for signing with Melbourne Heart a second time.
“It was a good experience [in Turkey],” he said
“Didn’t get the playing time that I wanted so I thought I’d come back to get more playing time under my belt again.
“The A-League improves every year, the competition gets tougher and players that come in get better and better so enjoying my time back at the Heart.
“It’s a great club so it was my first option when coming back to the A-League.”
