Bentleigh Greens have begun preparations for the 2016 NPL Victoria season by signing Moreland Zebras’ wide forward Danny Charalambous, the first of a string of signings the club is set to announce in the coming weeks.
The 19-year-old may have felt his opportunity for Victorian top-flight football had evaded him when his Zebras side missed promotion after being toppled by Melbourne Victory in the NPL1 cross-conference Final.
But his strong form in the NPL 1 West – where he scored 14 goals from the flank in just his second season in the senior line-up – attracted the interest of the recently crowned Premiers who will have plenty of depth up front with Matt Thurtell (confirmed) and Chris Lucas potentially staying on for next season.
The left-footer is also adept at playing behind the striker, and will provide stiff competition for Tyson Holmes in the attacking midfield role.
The club is yet to make an announcement on the move.
