Boudreau moves to Bulleen

Bulleen Lions have pulled off a massive coup ahead of the NPLW season, signing Canadian star Taryne Boudreau from Boroondara Eagles.

The forward took the competition by storm last season, finishing equal top scorer on 25 goals after adding four during the finals series.

She led the line with aplomb as her side almost swept all before them, claiming the Team App Cup and WPL Premiership.

However, Grand Final glory eluded the Eagles, losing out on penalties despite Boudreau scoring a brace in the game.

She then went on to play in the winning Bass Strait Cup as Victoria defeated Tasmania.

The Canadian arrived in Australia with considerable pedigree, having achieved age representative honours including participating in two FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cups and winning the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship.

Despite being part of the senior squad at a Four Nations tournament, a debut cap has eluded her to this date.

She also played College and club football in America with Louisiana State University, Houston Aces and San Diego Sea Lions, before going back to Canada to play with Victoria Soccer Club.

“I needed a fresh start to get my confidence back, to get playing, having fun and enjoying the game.” Boudreau said about her move to Australia.

“I think this was a really great move for me to make because I’m enjoying football again.”

She is Ricardo Martinez’s first announced signing of the summer and adds to an already potent line as Bulleen aim for inaugural honours in the NPLW.

“She has joined us on some training sessions already and we have been impressed with Taryne’s football skills, hard-work attitude and nice personality,” Martinez said.

“I have really enjoyed working with her and I think there was a mutual empathy between teammates, management and coaching staff and Taryne from the first time. That definitely helped to signed her for FC Bulleen.

“We are looking forward to work with Taryne and support her to be successful at FC Bulleen. I believe, Taryne’s strong technical and tactical football skills will provide us several alternatives for our football style.”
