Evan Christodoulou and Ramazan Tavsancioglu are the next two signings to link up at Avondale for the 2017 NPL Victoria season following Chris Oldfield’s arrival days earlier.
Both are former teammates who came on for Oakleigh Cannons in their 2012 VPL grand final defeat to Dandenong Thunder.
32-year-old Tavsancioglu also re-unites with Oldfield from Hume City, where the former took out the club’s best and fairest honors this season.
The experienced campaigner made a senior debut with Port Melbourne in 2003, where he was noticed by Turkish club Ankaragucu.
He moved overseas and spent between 2003 and 2005 there, but senior opportunities were hard to come by and he returned to feature for South Melbourne.
He was at Lakeside from 2005 and 2010, captaining the club and winning the 2006 VPL title, making 136 appearances and scoring seven goals.
During that time he also had a loan spell in the A-League with Melbourne Victory in 2006, and also had another loan stint in the A-League at North Queensland Fury in 2010-11.
The defender then moved to the Cannons in 2011 where he played 40 times in two seasons.
Further spells at Southern Stars and Dandenong Thunder followed, before being signed by Lou Acevski at Hume City.
He now signs for his sixth VPL/NPL club, adding experience and reliability to Avondale’s back four.
Meanwhile, 25-year-old Christodoulou made a senior debut in 2009 for Western Suburbs.
He then suffered VPL relegation with Gunshine George Cross in 2010, scoring twice in 14 games.
Heidelberg came calling and the attacking midfielder netted 10 goals in 36 games for the Olympic Village-based outfit.
A mid-season switch to Oakleigh followed, where he stayed until mid-2015 and eventually became captain in a tenure that yielded six goals in 54 games.
His stocks rose once more since a move to Green Gully, adding 14 goals in 39 games, his best return at a club to date.
Christodoulou’s move will bring further attacking flair through midfield for Avondale already containing the likes of club best and fairest Massimo Murdocca and Jonatan Germano, both of whom have also re-committed for 2017.
