Melbourne Victory strength and conditioning coach Peter Cklamovski has been plucked by Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou to be part of his coaching staff, joining up with the national team at the conclusion of the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season.
Cklamovski has long been touted to follow Postecoglou to the Socceroos setup, and it has now been made official by Football Federation Australia.
Postecoglou was delighted to be able to confirm the news, believing that Cklamovski will add a different dynamic to his burgeoning coaching staff which now includes Ante Milicic and Andrew Young.
“I’m happy Peter and Andrew have agreed to join us on what is an exciting journey with the Socceroos,” Postecoglou said.
“They are both exceptionally talented in their fields and will add another dimension to the current Socceroos staff.
“Sports science and analysis is something Australia is renowned for around the world and I saw that as a missing ingredient in the Socceroo set up. We have been vocal in our goal to have world’s best practice off the field and this is a good step in that direction.”
Cklamovski will also travel to London for the Socceroos’ clash with Ecuador on March 5, before returning to fulfil his duties at Melbourne Victory.
Postecoglou was grateful to his former club for releasing Cklamovski, who will also be involved with junior national team setups in his new role.
“I’d like to thank Melbourne Victory for their cooperation and understanding in allowing Peter to become part of the National Team program,” he said.
“I look forward to having both Andrew and Peter join the staff and make a valuable contribution to the development of the Socceroos and National Team program.”
