Melbourne Knights have continued their off-season signing spree with the re-acquisition of Jacob Colosimo for the 2016 NPL Season.

The striker returns to the club having spent the latter half of the 2015 season with Avondale FC, where he played 13 games and notched up five goals.

Colosimo spent the majority of his senior career at Somers Street, making his debut for the club in 2009 under then-manager Chris Taylor.

A breakthrough 2011 campaign saw him hit the back of the net 10 times in 17 league games, with the forward becoming an important first team player over the years.

However, he was plagued by injuries in recent years and spent a lengthy period on the sidelines in 2014 with knee troubles.

After a total of 89 appearances – and scoring 24 goals – Colosimo made the move across the Maribyrnong to Doyle Street Reserve for the second half of last season.

“I love this club, it feels right to be back,” Colosimo told melbourneknights.com.au as he looks to partner up with the likes of Stipo Andrijasevic and Robert Zadworny in attack next season.

Colosimo is the club’s sixth new addition, joining Stefan Cali, Nikola Jurkovic, Dean Campelj (also from Avondale FC), Nick Glavan and Timmy Purcell as Andrew Marth’s new recruits for the upcoming season.

The Knights kick-off their 2016 NPL campaign with a home clash against Green Gully on February 19 as the 2014 Dockerty Cup winners look to push on after an impressive fourth place finish in 2015.
