Melbourne City are set to announce their first big play in the transfer market, nabbing Matildas star forward Lisa De Vanna from cross-town rivals Melbourne Victory.
The move is the first official movement in what’s expected to be a number of defectors from the Victory to the W-League’s newest franchise.
Former Victory coach Joe Montemurro will lead City into their debut campaign, and is already well acquainted with De Vanna, having worked with her last season.
Her league form in 2014 was consistent playing in a wide left role, where she set up five goals and scored a further three from 11 appearances.
She struck eight goals from 14 appearances in her first season with the Victory in 2013, which followed on from spells at Perth Glory, Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets.
Her latest move makes her the only player in W-League history to have played for five different domestic clubs, and she sits fifth on the all-time goal scoring charts with 30.
