Murray United have secured the services of Kingston City NPL2 Championship-winning defender Nick Teichmann for their 2017 NPL2 campaign.
The 21-year-old moves to regional Victoria having spent the past two seasons at The Grange Reserve under Nick Tolios, where he accumulated a total of 39 league appearances for City in the process.
The Wesley College alumni began his senior career with the Bentleigh Greens in 2014, earning seven league appearances for the FFA Cup semi-finalists.
In addition to that, Teichmann made consecutive substitute appearances in the national cup competition in home ties against Adelaide City and Perth Glory.
He made the short move to Kingston in 2015 and established himself as the club’s first-choice left-back over the course of the campaign, which saw the club struggle for consistency.
However, the mid-season arrivals of first Hamish Millar (2015) and Luke Eyles (2016) increased competition for places at left-back, with Teichmann featuring in only half of City’s games last year.
The move north-east to border club presents the young defender a chance to once again establish himself as one of the competition’s most promising full-backs.
He becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer by following in the footsteps of forward Jason Ugrinic (Belconnen United), Curtis Iverson (St Pats FC), goalkeeper Abdulkerim Koc and former Adelaide United striker Chad Bugeja, who was unveiled as a United player last week.
James Coutts’ men open their 2017 campaign with a home game against Box Hill United this Saturday afternoon in a fixture which was also the club’s very first competitive outing just under two years ago.
