Could this be the most left-field signing in Australian football history?
The Corner Flag has reason to believe that former Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur striker Louis Saha is set to reach an astonishing agreement with Zagame’s State League Three side Caulfield United Cobras.
No, surely not… right?
It is understood that Saha – who has ties with Australia – is expected to be granted clearance for a one-off appearance against NPL outfit Heidelberg United in the Sixth Round of the FFA Cup at Olympic Village, on Friday June 5th.

The Frenchman had previously made his mark in Australia, scoring for Everton in a pre-season friendly against Melbourne Heart in 2010.
Completing his professional career 2013, Saha has traditionally enjoyed cup football, scoring the opening goal for Everton in the 2009 FA Cup final after 25 seconds. He also found the back of the net for Manchester United away against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.
The 36-year-old Saha represented France on 20 occasions during his professional career and was a member of Les Bleus’ 2004 European Championship campaign and 2006 FIFA World Cup team which progressed to the Final.
Caulfield stands as one of five remaining non-NPL ranked teams in the state’s Round of 16 FFA Cup play-offs and currently sit third on the Zagame’s State League Three South-East table.
This could be one of the biggest signings in Australian State League history, a case of mistaken identity, or an elaborate wind-up that’s been overlooked by the governing body, but let’s enjoy the ride while we can.
