Bundoora United will be without the services of Caitlin Friend in 2014 after the striker secured a big move to English club Notts County Ladies.
The forward has followed on from her impressive finish to the 2013 Women’s Premier League season by scoring seven goals in ten appearances this season, including a hat trick against Newcastle Jets back in Round 4.
Notts County Ladies, previously known as Lincoln Ladies, currently play in the FA WSL 1, the highest level in English women’s football.
Friend will have a familiar face at the club, with New Zealand international Katie Hoyle already a confirmed signing for the Lady Magpies.
While this will be her first move abroad, Friend is excited by the prospect of playing at a higher level.
“A few of my team mates here in Melbourne have played in England and they’ve spoken about the high standard of football,” Friend said on the Notts County website.
“I just want to play football at a high standard all year round and I’ve only heard great things about the Super League.
“I’ve heard quite a lot about Notts County and the set up they’ve got – it sounds like one of the most organised and professional structures out there.”
Friend will be licking her lips at the prospect of coming up against the likes of Arsenal Ladies , Liverpool Ladies as well as Bristol Academy who will be managed by outgoing Melbourne Victory coach Dave Edmondson.
