Green Gully has secured the services of former Brisbane Roar midfielder George Lambadaridis for the 2016 NPL Victoria season.
The 23-year-old Melburnian returns to his hometown having spent the last four years at Brisbane Roar in the A-League.
The one-time Young Socceroo is reunited with his former mentor Arthur Papas, who coached him while at Altona Magic in 2007 where he made his senior debut as a 15-year-old.
Lambadaridis spent time overseas in 2010 with Belgian powerhouse Club Brugge and featured in their Under 19 squad before returning back home to Australia and signing for the Brisbane Roar.
A debut A-League appearance against the Central Coast Mariners in February 2012 was followed by memorable long range winning goal against Gold Coast United as the Roar went onto secure back-to-back Premierships.
His contract was not renewed after the 2014-15 season, with Lambadaridis returning home and spending his off-season training under Papas at Oakleigh Cannons.
He did however return to Brisbane in September on a short-term replacement contract for the injured Henrique.
The central-midfielder left the Roar last week following Henrique’s return from injury and his signing provides Green Gully with what can only be considered a coup for the league.
He joins Alastair Bray, Tyler James, Anthony Ragusa, Ratip Cileli and Nicholas Krousoratis as the club’s new signings in the Papas era.
