Hume City winger Jai Ingham is currently trialling with Melbourne Victory as he looks to make a January move to the reigning A-League Champions.
The 22-year-old moved to Victoria at the beginning of the year and starred for City as the club embarked on a memorable run to the FFA Cup semi-finals, where they were defeated by eventual winners Victory.
In addition to the FFA Cup, Lou Acevski’s side experienced semi-final heartache in the NPL after a 2-0 defeat to eventual champions Bentleigh Greens, with Ingham impressing by scoring nine times in 28 games.
Originally from Lismore in northern New South Wales, the forward made his league debut for Olympic FC in 2012.
A spell of good form for the Brisbane-based club saw Ingham elevated into the Brisbane Roar NYL team for the 2013-14 season, spending the following two seasons there.
He made his senior debut for the Roar under Mike Mulvey in January 2014 in a 2-1 home victory over Wellington Phoenix, which memorably featured a stunning winning goal by fellow debutant, Devante Clut.
However, opportunities were limited for the youngster the following year as the club went through a tumultuous period, including the controversial sacking of Championship winning manager Mulvey.
He then signed for Lou Acevski’s side before the 2015 NPL Victoria campaign.
Ingham catapulted himself back into the A-League shop window after a promising debut season for Hume City in 2015.
The attacker’s trial at Victory comes at a time when the club has struggled for results, losing their last four games and only scoring one goal in the process.
He is the second high-profile Hume City player to earn an A-League trial, following goalkeeper Chris Oldfield’s time in Gosford with Central Coast Mariners.
The 2015 FFA Cup semi-finalists recently added Ingham’s former Brisbane Roar teammate and fellow winger Kofi Danning to their senior squad for the 2016 NPL season, despite already possessing one of the league’s most potent forward lines, including Theo Markelis, Daniel Visevic, Daniel Clark and Tom Cahill.
