Cairnlea have appointed Jamie Monteith as their new women’s coach, a week after Nick Koutroumanis stepped down from his post.
Monteith was hired earlier this year as Director of Coaching at the club, and it seems he will now take on additional duties with regards to the Women’s Premier League team.
“He was already at the club coaching juniors, and we offered it to him and he said yes,” said club president Beige Hussein.
The former Arsenal Kickz coach inherits a team that has been struggling of late after a fighting 5-4 win over Casey in the opening week.
7-0 and 8-1 losses to Bundoora and Sandringham respectively have had the club reeling, though they will have a genuine chance to bounce right back with a winnable game away to Ashburton this weekend.
Monteith took his first training session on Tuesday and Hussein has confirmed that the new coach will be leading his team out for the first time on Sunday.
