Joey Cartwright has become Heidelberg United’s first signing of the 2016 NPLW season.
The 16-year-old makes the move from the NTC to play under Bill Mihaloudis.
Hailing from the border, she started her senior journey at the Boomers in the Albury-Wodonga Football Association.
As a 14-year-old she was selected in the national squad to play AFC Under-16 qualifiers in Malaysia.
The forward was also part of the NSW Country squad that won the Girls FFA National Youth Champions in 2014.
She switches to Olympic Village after scoring six goals last term to end as the NTC’s joint top scorer alongside Emily Harbis.
The attacker’s signing comes after the departure of Aneta Komijat to Galaxy United.
Coach Bill Mihaloudis said he was excited by the prospect of seeing the youngster improve her game throughout the season.
“Joey is another one of our exciting young prospects playing in the attacking third who has quickly settled into playing senior football,” Mihaloudis said.
“She has proven she can score goals and definitely a player to watch.”
