Melbourne Knights have begun their recruiting drive for the 2017 NPL Victoria season with the capture of Hume City forward Kym Harris.
The 24-year-old joined ABD Stadium late-2015 and made 21 appearances in the league, including 11 starts, as he netted six goals in his first campaign in the NPL Victoria.
His first league goal for the club was a wonderful winner against Avondale FC in Round Two, as Harris came off the bench to score late in the second half.
The South Australian joined Hume from Adelaide Blue Eagles, having previously featured for Adelaide United’s NYL side as well as stint with Conference North side Hayes and Yeading in England.
Harris played a crucial role in Hume City’s two-game run in the FFA Cup national stages this season, netting a 117th minute equaliser against Marconi Stallions in the first round, then converting from the spot in a successful penalty shootout.
He also started in the 1-0 loss to Melbourne Victory with Craig Carley cup-tied due to his appearances for Goulburn Valley Suns in the qualifying stages.
He will provide competition for places in the forward line as the Knights look to push on and improve on their ninth placed finish in the league.
It is the first signing of the summer for the Knights, while it’s also the fourth official departure for Hume City after Chris Oldfield, Joseph Franjic and Shane Rexhepi all departed the club.
