The Melbourne Knights have continued their off-season recruitment with the signing of fullback Nick Glavan.
The 19-year-old has spent the past year with Melbourne Victory’s youth team, where he was primarily deployed in the right-back position.
The teenager spent 2014 with Dandenong City and enjoyed a breakthrough season under Ivan Duzel, making 25 first team appearances.
His good form saw him attract the interest of Darren Davies, who offered him a spot with the youth team alongside City teammate Damien Miskulin.
Despite being a first-team regular – making 28 league appearances – as Victory earned promotion into the NPL, Glavan was released by the club in October, along with Milos Ridesic and Patrick Avice.
Despite interest from his old side City and North Geelong Warriors, Glavan could not resist the offer of playing in the NPL top flight with Andrew Marth’s men.
The teenager is the Knights’ fourth signing in the past week after the club acquired the services of Stefan Cali, Nikola Jurkovic and Dean Campelj.
All four signings highlight a more youthful policy being employed by the club, with the captures of two 21-year-olds, a 19-year-old in Glavan, and the 17-year-old Jurkovic
