Geelong Galaxy have added long-serving WPL player, Aneta Komijat, to its roster for the 2016 NPLW season.
Komijat spent seven years with and captained Altona City, where in her debut WPL season saw a return of two goals from 16 league starts under the stewardship of Scotsman Paul Kilpatrick.
She then found a new home with Cairnlea FC for the 2014 WPL campaign, where she was one of the standout players in a tough season that ended in relegation, scoring four goals.
The winger then moved to Heidelberg last season, where she netted twice as the side finished in a Finals position.
Galaxy coach Vincenzo Ierardo commended Komijat on her ability to take on her opponent and intelligence on the pitch.
“Aneta comes to the club with plenty of WPL experience,” Ierardo told Galaxy United.
“Aneta first caught my eye in her Altona City days with her ability to beat players 1v1 and her football smarts around the pitch”.
Komijat has signalled her intent to help the clubs fortunes not only on the field, but also off it as she takes up a backroom role looking into injury prevention of players.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of a brand new club in a brand new league,” Komijat told the club.
“It’s great to be able to not only play for Galaxy United but also help off the field which is something I’m passionate about and thankful to Vince and the club for the opportunity.”
The Surf Coast-based club is now assembling a formidable side, with Komijat joining the likes of Laura Spiranovic, Whitney Knight, Jade Feakes, Sky Jensen, Sarah Sumner and Kariah White at the club.
