South Melbourne has made the shock signing of star defender Kristian Konstantinidis from Northcote City on the eve of the NPL Victoria season.
Having signed former A-League midfielder Jake Barker-Daish last week, 23-year-old Konstantinidis is the latest in a string of high profile signings that the club has made in defence of their league title.
A bona fide star of the league, KK is equally adept at playing in both a central or right fullback role and it was the latter where he found himself playing his football in 2014.
The Bulleen Lions product offers decent pace and strong aerial ability to match his strong runs down the flank and uncanny eye for goal.
The fullback added four goals last campaign with a number of assists of the right flank, in a Northcote outfit that finished in a disappointing seventh place.
The former Melbourne Heart youth will face stiff competition for places in a star studded South line-up, where he’ll contend with Tim Mala for a right-back berth, and Kiwi trio Michael Eagar, James Musa and Luke Adams for a spot in the middle.
