Melbourne City have today officially unveiled ex-Slovenian international Robert Koren as their new international marquee for season 2014-15.
The veteran attacking midfielder – who’s experience in England’s top flight stretches back to 2008 – signed a two-year deal with the club, and will link up with fellow EPL stalwart Damien Duff and Spanish international David Villa in what’s looming as a delectable attacking contingent for the A-League club.
Koren captained Hull City to a 16th place finish in the Premier League last season, making 22 appearances, scoring two goals along the way.
His experience in Europe also saw him turn out for top flight clubs in Norway and his native Slovenia, while also earning 61 caps for the national team – including their 2010 World Cup campaign.
Head coach of Melbourne City John van ‘t Schip was pleased to land his man after weeks of speculation over the mooted signing, with the Dutchman believing his experience will help the club achieve further success on field.
“Robert is someone who we feel can add something extra to the team and can help us get to the next level,” he said.
“He is a team player who we believe will contribute well and help our entire squad reach their full potential and help deliver results.”
