For the first time ever, a woman will grace the cover of the annual FIFA video game title, with FIFA 16 to showcase one of three Matildas on the game’s front cover alongside Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
VOTE HERE: FIFA 16 Matildas cover star
Melbourne Victory captain Steph Catley is in the running for the title, along with Matildas striker Kyah Simon and reigning AFC player of the year Katrina Gorry.
Socceroos star Tim Cahill has featured on the Australian cover of the game for the last five editions, and the change marks a huge landmark not only for the women’s game, but also the local Australian game.
This will be the first time a domestic based Australian player has featured on the title, which was one of the highest selling video game titles in Australia for 2014.
