South Melbourne WSC coach Bill Mihaloudis has hailed his players’ performances following a thumping 5-0 win over Heidelberg United earlier this evening.
Heidelberg looked set to be their strongest test so far this season after following up a credible draw against Box Hill with a gutsy win over Altona after being reduced to nine players, but were comprehensively beaten by the rampant visitors.
“I’m very happy with the way the girls are going and they way they’re playing,” Mihaloudis said.
“It’s nice to see them play good possession football, it’s that attacking brand that we’ve been talking about and they’re scoring goals so I can’t complain.”
First half goals from Lucrece Laverdure and Laura Spiranovic were followed up with another from Spiranovic as well as efforts from Tiffany Elaidis and Selin Kuralay as the Bergers fell away in the closing stages.
“It’s a massive win and I’ve got to credit the players for maintaining this level of intensity throughout the duration of the entire game,” Mihaloudis added.
“We need to enjoy the win for the rest of the day but come Monday, the focus is on our next opponent.”
