Murray United have boosted their attacking stocks with the addition of former Adelaide United forward Chad Bugeja.
The 35-year-old adds firepower and experience to a youthful outfit which struggled to net goals last season and brings with him A-League and South Australian top-flight experience.
Originally hailing from Broken Hill in NSW, Bugeja made a breakthrough in South Australia with White City since his debut in 2002.
He was signed by coach John Kosmina for Adelaide United’s inaugural A-League campaign, making nine appearances as United went on to win the premier’s plate before crashing out in the finals.
He returned to White City where he stayed until 2008, departing after more than 60 goals in 100 appearances.
A short stint at Adelaide City was followed by a move to Adelaide Blue Eagles, where he featured from 2010-13 and scored 19 goals in 55 games. There he became interim player-coach after the departure of Vojo Gluscevic.
Bugeja returned to former club White City in 2014, departing in 2016 after a further 10 goals in 40 games.
He becomes the fourth addition to the Murray United squad which will look to avoid relegation after the arrivals of Jason Ugrinic (Belconnen – ACT), Abdulkerim Koc (Whittlesea Ranges) and Curtis Iverson (St Pats FC) for 2017.
