Boroondara Eagles have replaced two departing squad members with three new signings for the remainder of the WPL season.
Tasmanian NTC players Aimee Medwin and Lucy Johnston, along with former Tasmanian Premier League goalkeeper Freya Crocker, were recruited in place of the outgoing Emma Hubbard – on a scholarship in America – and Alondra Villa.
Medwin is a mobile left footer previously involved at young Matildas level, while Johnston can play anywhere in the front third.
“We believe both will be exciting to watch,” Eagles technical director Manny Kotroulis said.
Crocker comes in after a spell in the lower state leagues in Victoria, but has previously played at the highest level in Tasmania and will provide cover for first choice Anna Lanning.
“She has done well in the Tasmanian top division previously and will provide important cover in our goalkeeping division.”
The Eagles made the signings with five home and away games remaining, which is the minimum amount required for a player to qualify for the finals series.
“It was important to add to our squad at this point in time with the imminent departures of Hubbard and Villa,” Kotroulis said.
“[Myself] and senior coach Shaun Ontong have worked hard during the week to strengthen the squad for the run home.”
The signings bolster a team on the hunt for the season double, having already triumphed in the Team App Cup last week.
