While Pascoe Vale SC will be looking to go on with last season’s Semi-Finals berth in the NPL Victoria, 2016 will see them do that under the new branding of Pascoe Vale Football Club.
Along with the name change, Paco will be donning a new badge on the front of their kit this season, opting for design which features a shield inside a rounded shied, eerily reminiscent of Manchester City’s badge for the next EPL season.
The rebranding was done as a part of the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations, to honour both the history of the club as well as its future.
The club broke the new logo down into two key elements, being ‘The Fearless Ram’ and ‘The Ball’, both of which hold significance to Pascoe Vale.
“The symbolism of the Ram resonates powerfully with the heritage of our club’s founding members, and depicts the culture of the club, one who wants to create its own path and leap into new opportunity without hesitation, but with fearlessness and defiance,” the club said on their official website.
“A part of our founding crest, the traditional-shaped ball ensures that we carry the legacy and recognise the contribution of our past members and players over the last 50 years, as we continue to explore new horizons as a football community.”
The name change, albeit subtle, was made to reflect the direction that football is taking in Australia, and the increased awareness of the sport in this country.
“We have decided to re-name ourselves the Pascoe Vale Football Club from the original Pascoe Vale Soccer Club.
“The subtle change allows us to acknowledge the positive direction in which ‘The World Game’ is moving in this country, yet still enables us to shout ‘C’mon Paco’ from the top of our voices in the terraces.”
In other news for the club, Pascoe Vale FC have signed Japanese midfielder Yusei Kitade, who has been with the club over the last few weeks.
The 22-year-old international arrives at the club from Japan National University Football Select, having spent his junior career with Mitsubishi Yowa SC.
