Versatile youngster Stefan Nigro has put pen to paper on his first ever professional contract, signing a two-year deal with Melbourne Victory.
Nigro has featured for the Victory Youth squad over the last two seasons, making 40 appearances in the NPL, scoring four goals.
The Ballarat-local initially made his mark in the competition in 2014 with Port Melbourne Sharks, where he impressed at left-back in his 13 appearances at the club.
Nigro made his A-League debut earlier this year in the Round 15 win over Brisbane Roar, where he started at right-back in the 4-0 win.
He was subsequently given a standing ovation when substituted on 63 minutes, after a man-of-the-match display, which memorably included a nutmeg on Thomas Broich.
“When I was running off the field, [Besart] Berisha came and ran from around half to come and give me a high five and a hug before I started to run off the field,” Nigro told The Corner Flag after his debut.
“As I was running off and did the routine, shaking hands and being congratulated by the coaches and players, I could hear my name getting chanted. That gave me goosebumps.
“To have experienced players saying well done as you make your way off, that was very humbling, and the fact that I got a standing ovation in my debut game, I don’t think it happens very often and it was an amazing feeling for me, one that ill never forget.”

Having done a number on the former Johnny Warren Medalist, Nigro earned two more starts for the Victory across the rest of the campaign.
The new signing was grateful for the opportunity presented to him to play professional football.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the Melbourne Victory senior squad,” Nigro said via press release.
“It was a great experience to play in the A-League this season and get an understanding of what it takes to compete at that level.
“I’m determined to learn from my teammates, continue improving and work hard to make an impact in the A-League next season.”
Head coach Kevin Muscat sang the praises of his newest senior member, praising his work ethic and attitude towards improving his game.
“For a young player making his way in the game, Stefan didn’t look out of place in the senior squad when he was asked to step up this season,” said Muscat.
“He is a player who is hungry to learn and works hard to get the best out of himself. It was great to see him hold his own at the elite level.
“We’re excited about the further improvement Stefan will make at Victory and look forward to seeing him join the senior squad for the pre-season.”
Nigro joins fellow NPL youth players Lewis Spinella and George Howard on full-time contracts with the A-League outfit.
