Senior NTC ran out comfortable 5-0 winners over South Yarra at State Football Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Adriana Taranto, Whitney Knight, Melindaj Barbieri, Akeisha Sandhu and Emily Harbis were the scorers on the day, completing a straightforward victory over the league’s bottom side.
NTC dominated the entire contest and almost went ahead in the ninth minute when Knight smashed a shot against the crossbar, but the ball rebounded back into play despite the hosts’ protests.
It was a somewhat frustrating outing for Knight, who struggled to finish up all her and the NTC’s good lead-up work; a shot blasted over the bar in the 17th minute summing that up.
The development side took 22 minutes to break the deadlock, with Adriana Taranto finishing off a corner after being found unmarked inside the box to smash home.
Just eight minutes later and they were two nil up when Knight rolled in a finish after getting onto Melissa Taranto’s smart through ball.
The half then ended with Knight unable to bury a double chance, seeing the initial shot outside the box closed down before hitting the rebound wide.
Knight began the second half in similar vein, missing once over the bar, and later a gilt-edged chance after Ashleigh Bellman had come out to smother Emily Harbis’ shot.
South Yarra had its only shot on target just before the hour, Marcela Marques hitting a free-kick straight into the chest of Erin Hudson.
A minute later, NTC made it three when Barbieri finished with aplomb from a corner that was dropped by Bellman.
It was four just ten minutes later, when Sandhu picked up the ball on the right flank, cut in on the top of the area and found the back of the net via a deflection.
With the NTC in total control, Harbis then made it five two minutes before the end when she unleashed a pile-driver from range.
The result is NTC’s seventh win of the campaign.
