Oakleigh Cannons have secured the services of Australian National Team manager Ange Postecoglou on a short-term basis, to assist current manager Miron Bleiberg in his role.
With the Socceroos next competitive fixtures not until June 11th – where they’ll play their first round of matches in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers – Postecoglou took the call to help his friend, both of whom were former Brisbane Roar managers.
Currently anchored to the bottom of the table with no goals or points, Oakleigh’s season looks set to be boosted by Postecoglou’s return to the Victorian league that he holds so dear.
It’s strongly rumoured that fringe Socceroo left-back David Carney will also make the move south in a bid to secure more game time, with the released Newcastle player spotted roaming around the cafes of Oakleigh speaking to Cannons hierarchy on the possibility of a deal.
“The Baklava was good,” Carney said in an exclusive interview with The Corner Flag.
“Vanilla probably does the best coffee on the strip, I reckon, but definitely Pipperilli’s for the cakes.
“I check my friends and I in on Facebook because I don’t have instagram yet.”
