Dandenong Thunder have released young forward Amir Osmancevic, citing disciplinary reasons stemming from yesterday’s 10-1 win over Nunawading City as the reason.
Head coach Huss Skenderovic delivered a statement to explain his departure following an incident at half-time in yesterday afternoon’s mammoth win.
“Amir has been stood down by the club for a lack of professionalism and that’s final,” Skenderovic said.
“We expect certain expectations and levels of professionalism at this club and he did not adhere to them.”
Osmancevic was substituted at half-time in the clash against City, which Skenderovic said was a result of his poor performance.
He subsequently departed the venue at the beginning of half-time as teammate Brandon Barnes adding seven more goals in the second half to help the rampant league leaders to their biggest win in the NPL Victoria era.
It’s not the first time that controversy has surrounded Osmancevic, as the Thunder were found guilty and fined three competition points for fielding him ineligibly in Round One of the NPL2 East season – ironically also against Nunawading City.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a stellar start to life in the NPL, scoring four consecutive braces in his first four league appearances for the club.
However, the goals have dried up in recent weeks for the former Doveton and Peninsula Strikers man, with Osmancevic scoring just the two goals from his seven appearances since.
The Corner Flag understands a number of options exist for Osmancevic during the upcoming transfer window, which is set to open tomorrow.
