In a big coup for the club, Green Gully have announced Arthur Papas as their coach for the 2016 NPL Victoria season.
The expert man-manager joins the club on the back of a second stint at Oakleigh Cannons in 2015, where he lead his side to an FFA Cup quarter-final berth in his time at the club.
He resigned on the back of that game, having linked up with the South-East based side mid-season after the departure of Miron Bleiberg after a tumultuous start to the season.
Despite taking over with Oakleigh languishing in the bottom three, he lead somewhat of a revival at the club, and lead them to safety in a disappointing season at Jack Edwards Reserve.
Gully were left manager-less after Bob Stojcevski’s departure mid-way through the 2015 NPL season, with Roddy Vargas taking up a player-manager role alongside former Cavaliers teammate Stephen Downes.
The move comes as little surprise given Papas cited logistical reasons as instrumental in his departure from Oakleigh, with the Essendon-based coach much better situated for his role at Gully.
