Hume City is well on its way to strengthening their squad for the 2016 NPL Victoria season, signing two players as well as re-signing 11 for next year.
Former Melbourne Heart fullback Jeremy Walker returns to Hume after a short but impressive stint with the Broadmeadows-based club at the start of 2014, while South Australian talent Kym Harris links up with the club for next season.
The former Adelaide United youth and Adelaide Blue Eagles player comes in to bolster an already healthy forward third which looks to take a similar set-up into 2016 as wingers Theo Markelis and Jai Ingham signed contract extensions for next season.
Daniel Chaabani, Nick Hegarty, Shane Rexhepi, Isyan Erdogan, Chris Oldfield, Joseph Franjic, Ivan Pavlak, Marcus Schroen and Sergio Msahli have all also penned new deals with the club.
Erdogan has been the longest serving member of the crop, with the former A-League player joining in 2009.
Both Englishmen Hegarty and Oldfield joined in 2012, Rexhepi and Franjic in 2014, while the remainder signed this season to bolster the squad.
Hume City embarked on a barnstorming season that ended in the semi-finals stage of both league and FFA Cup, becoming the feel-good story as the last NPL club standing before being knocked out in an honorable display against Melbourne Victory.
Hume City coach Lou Acevski was delighted with the re-signings, which provide added stability for the club to go one step further in 2016.
“It’s great to see majority of our current squad re-signing for 2016,” Acevski told Hume City.
“Obviously we have had a successful 2015 but hopefully with our current squad, and some new additions, we will be able to go one step more in relation to winning a league championship and a cup competition.”
