Quigley: I’m loving it

Fresh from her move down from Adelaide, Racheal Quigley is enjoying her new life in Melbourne and cannot wait to see what the rest of the Sportsmart Women’s Premier League has to offer.

Quigley joined Boroondara Eagles for the Australian winter, along with fellow Adelaide United teammates Louise Mason and Alex Gummer, and the Lady Reds most capped player has felt welcomed by her new club.

“It’s different, I don’t really like Melbourne roads, they’re a bit crazy! But it’s good – I’m loving it,” Quigley said.

“With Boroondara they’ve stayed together quite a few years so it’s usually difficult to get into a team, but with the three of us coming, we already know how each other are going to play so it makes it a lot easier.

“We’ve come in with a good attitude and they’ve all got it as well. The girls are great and I’m really excited for the season.”

With a long time between drinks in the W-League off season, Quigley saw the move as an opportunity to rediscover her love for the game, and prepare herself for the next season for Adelaide United.

“This is kind of like my pre-season for the W-League,” she said.

“I feel like I can get a lot out of this club and I feel like these girls want the best as well so I just want to get all  the passion for the game again and bring it out to W-League this year.”

Quigley made her Eagles debut against Bundoora United on Sunday evening, and she was pleased that her new team were able to match it amongst one of the favourites to win the WPL.

“It was good, it was a good standard,” she said.

“First game obviously its going to be a bit shaky but the standard was really good. The girls knew how to play, they’re aggressive, I’m excited!

“I’m obviously not from here but I’ve heard Bundoora’s a great team and they showed it today but we were just as good and this is just the beginning so I feel like if we keep stepping up each week then we can potentially get quite high in the league which is great.
