Behind Closed Doors
The locker room: it’s one almighty sacred place, whether it be in the bowels of Old Trafford or of a burgeoning suburban soccer club.
It’s a scene where stories are exchanged, battle wounds are repaired, and inspiration can be found in spades while the sounds of old-school R’n’B and trance reverberate throughout the room.
From the various affirmations posted around the room to the heartfelt speech delivered by Hume City manager Lou Acevski prior to their blockbuster friendly against Melbourne Victory commenced, it was easy to see why they are such tightly guarded institutions.
Which is what made the club’s willingness to allow me into this space all the more remarkable, especially given the tough fixture that laid ahead.
