Multiple Golden Boot and Gold Medal winner Laura Spiranovic has signed for Ashburton Women’s Soccer Club, The Corner Flag can exclusively reveal.
After a seven-year association with South Melbourne WFC, the two-time Women’s Premier League winner has decided to make the move to Ashburton Park.
Spiranovic – sister of Socceroos defender Matt – was also part of the 2013/14 W-League winning Melbourne Victory side that beat Brisbane Roar to lift their very first national title.
The 23-year-old striker’s turn of speed and powerful shot has made her one of the most lethal goal scorers in WPL history, and her signing represents something of a coup for Ashburton coach Sinisa Cohadzic.
She will also look to take up youth coaching duties, following the completion of her university studies.
Ashburton only narrowly kept their WPL credentials after a last round win over Casey in September, and have been busy strengthening in the off-season to prevent a repeat of their 10th-place finish.
The Geelong-born forward’s transfer follows key defender Kristin Stensholt’s return to Ashburton following a one-year stint at Sandringham SC, with more signings said to be in the works.
