The St Albans Saints have completed their ninth signing of the off-season by luring Argentine forward Facundo Alcacer to Churchill Reserve for the 2017 NPL season.
A product of the Newell’s Old Boys youth set-up which has famously produced the likes of Lionel Messi, Gabriel Batistuta and Jorge Valdano amongst others, Alcacer most recently featured for Brazilian third tier side Esporte Clube Juventude youth.
He spent much of January on trial with A-League outfit the Central Coast Mariners where former Saints defender Ivan Jolic is an assistant coach to Paul Okon.
Alcacer is expected to form part of an exciting Latin American attacking line-up at Dinamo which also features former Costa Rica international and ex-Brisbane Roar A-League Championship winner Jean Carlos Solórzano and Argentine-born former Melbourne City attacker Hernan Espindola.
He joins the duo as new signings at the club who have also recruited Antonio Barbaro, Daniel Chaabani, Matthew Cundari, John Lazaridis and goalkeepers Chris May and Aaron Romein.
Kruni Razov’s men begin their first top-flight campaign since 2011 with an away trip to Knights Stadium to face Avondale on Saturday February 11 with kick-off scheduled for 7pm.
