Melbourne Victory have announced the immediate release of Jonathan Bru from his contract following months spent isolated from the rest of the squad.
The Mauritian international was Ange Postecoglu’s first international signing for the club and went on to make 19 appearances in the 2012/13 season.
He has since fallen out of favour and has been made to train away from the entire squad, doing simple exercises in a corner of Gosch’s Paddock.
Head coach Kevin Muscat has thanked Bru for his services to the club, especially after such a difficult few months for the midfielder.
“Jonathan has been nothing but professional during his time at Melbourne Victory and we certainly wish him well for the future,” Muscat said in a club statement.
“He will be an asset to any club.”
His release frees up an international player spot on the roster, which will allow Victory to strengthen their squad in this month’s transfer window.
