Melbourne Victory have signed Galaxy United custodian Emily Kenshole as an injury replacement for Bianca Henninger.
The Mexican international went down with a knee injury in the weekend’s Melbourne derby and was replaced with debutant Beth Mason-Jones with 20 minutes left in the contest.
Now the injury is likely to rule her out for four to six weeks.
Injury to young Matildas goalkeeper and another Victory back-up in Teresa Morrissey meant the club had to make a further signing from Victoria’s top flight. Kenshole will provide depth in goalkeeping stocks alongside Mason-Jones.
Her rise to the W-League has been rapid given that the former Bell Park junior was amongst the Galaxy’s youth ranks with Kelsey Quinn and Katie Neville the first two choices in the seniors.
However, she was eventually promoted and appeared in eight senior games. She also earned selection in the Victorian Bass Strait Cup squad against Tasmania and played in the team’s win.
Kenshole had recently re-committed to Galaxy for the 2017 NPLW season.
Meanwhile, Caitlin Friend and Kariah White have also been promoted for this week’s clash against Perth Glory.
The NPLW flavour will continue as Victory will come up against Alamein FC’s Melissa Maizels in goals.
Victory currently prop up the table, while Perth sit in sixth place after four rounds.
