Melbourne Victory W-League have announced Ella Mastrantonio as their second signing of the week ahead of their clash against Perth Glory on Saturday afternoon.
Ironically, the midfielder was released by Perth a week ago having received less than favourable game time and Victory wasted no time in pouncing on her services, given they were short in midfield after Ash Brown’s unfortunate injury.
“Ella [Mastrantonio] left Perth last week and I became aware of her availability and contacted her to see if she was interested in a move to Melbourne,” head coach Dave Edmondson said in a press release.
“She was very keen so we arranged for her to come down and train and once she showed what she was capable of and offers to the side, it was an easy decision to sign her.
“I’ve seen a lot of her over the years and she offers a strong presence in the midfield, a good football brain and a determination to succeed, all of which fit in well with our playing style and philosophy.”
This will be Mastrantonio’s second stint at Melbourne Victory having made 11 appearances for the club back in the 2010/11 season.
