On Sunday, Melbourne Victory defeated Perth Glory 2-0 to claim the second ever FFA Cup.
In the process, it completed an unofficial treble in 2015, adding to the A-League Premiership/Championship double for finishing top of the league and winning the Grand Final the season before.
Victory were quick to commemorate their growing list of trophies, posting this graphic:
Fans, and the club, were quick to jest about other pieces of silverware won by the club that didn’t feature in the graphic:
Yet if the Victory’s intention was to celebrate its senior achievements, there’s one glaring omission:
Victory’s W-League triumph came in the 2013-14 season, when Lauren Barnes and Lisa De Vanna struck the side to a 2-0 win over Brisbane Roar. It can be argued that because of the FFV’s involvement back then, the W-League side wasn’t fully administered by the club. But Victory were more than happy to commemorate the achievement at the time anyway:
Championship-winning W-League coach Dave Edmondson’s inquiry on the post fell on deaf ears:
At youth level, Victory’s NYL side has also enjoyed silverware, winning in 2012-13 on the final day by default after a scheduled clash against Central Coast – with both sides on 37 points – was abandoned due to heavy rain. The result was determined as a scoreless draw, with Victory taking the title on existing goal difference.
And at state level, while the club’s senior NPL season ended in promotion, the side let the NPL 1 East title slip to Richmond. However, the 20s side took out its division:
