NPL Victoria newcomers Avondale FC have nabbed a rising talent ahead of the 2015 season, formally announcing the signing of Springvale White Eagles creative force Vojo Milojevic, The Corner Flag can reveal.
The 19-year-old fleet-footed winger was a rare shining light in a difficult 2014 season for Springy, contributing a number of goals and assists to aid the South-East based outfit’s inaugural NPL 1 campaign.
The former Melbourne City trialist exclusively revealed to The Corner Flag that Avondale coach Anthony Barbieri got in contact with him after the two sides played out a 3-0 pre-season result.

” Right after [Springvale] versed Avondale FC in our second game against them [in the 2014 NPL 1 season], despite losing 3-0 Barbs (Anthony Barbieri) approached me after the game asking what I’m doing next year and if I was interested in playing in the NPL with Avondale,” Milojevic said.
“I’ve been with the team since day one of pre-season.”
Milojevic attributed Avondale’s discipline, regimented and ultimately successful approach under Barbieri as a key reason for his signing.
“They have a winning mentality, getting promoted three times in the last four years, always coming in as the underdogs with nothing to lose,” he said.
“Obviously it’s always good to be playing in the best league possible, playing with and against better players will help me grown and develop into a better player. Also moving to a different club will help me see what it is like to be in a different culture.”
He’ll be a key member in a squad that’ll be aiming to consolidate their spot in the top flight, and it all starts this weekend.
Milojevic and Avondale FC face the formidable fortress of Knights Stadium in their introduction to the top flight. Kick-off this Friday night is scheduled for 8:30pm.
