Women’s Premier League duo Monique Iannella and Beattie Goad, along with Matilda’s fledgling Alex Chidiac, have officially been announced as Melbourne City W-League players.
The trio were revealed alongside the official revealing of Larissa Crummer as a City player, taking their playing roster to a healthier looking squad of seven.
Iannella, of Adelaide United last season, has been in fine form in the WPL this season, excelling at right-back in her limited appearances for Bundoora United in 2015.
Likewise, former Melbourne Victory winger Goad has had another solid season in the Victorian top flight, tearing up the wing for FC Bulleen Lions, scoring 11 goals in the process.
The move also makes her the fourth former Victory player to make the switch to City, where she’s joined by former teammates Lisa De Vanna and Brianna Davey.
The signing of the prodigiously talented Chidiac, teammates with Iannella at Adelaide United, may be with one eye on the future, but it looks likely that the Matildas capped 16-year-old will make an impact in the first-team this season.
With the time fast closing in on their opening day fixture, the announcement of four squad players at once may mean the wait to see their full roster won’t be as long as expected.
