Zeljko Kuzman has stepped down from his role as head coach of the St Albans Saints.

Kuzman returned to the club late last year to take up the senior coaching role having spent last season as an assistant at NPL1 Champions Richmond, and previous to that he also managed the Melbourne Knights 20s in 2014.

He cited “irreconcilable differences with the committee” as the reason behind his departure, with assistants Steve Bebic and Theo Mihailidis also departing Fox Road.

“I look forward to the next chapter and wish the club, its players, supporters, Ivan Maric and his committee all the very best going forward,” Kuzman said via Facebook.

The Saints sit fifth on the NPL2 West standings, five points behind conference leaders North Geelong Warriors, who they defeated 2-1 away from home less than two weeks ago.

Kuzman’s overall record at Churchill Reserve after 15 matches yielded seven wins, three draws and five losses as well as a heartbreaking Round 6 exit in the FFA Cup at the hands of Port Melbourne.

He was Dinamo’s sixth permanent coach in the past five years following Kruni Razov, Vinko Buljubasic, Micky Colina, Toby Paterson and Joe Kovacevic in the hot seat, with Kovacevic and Franz Weimpar also holding interim positions.

The Saints host NPL2 strugglers Murray United this Sunday afternoon.

It’s understood former head coach and current club women’s coach Razov is the frontrunner for the vacant role.
