Bentleigh Greens have confirmed the acquisitions of Port Melbourne midfielder Lambros Honos in addition to Goulburn Valley Suns goalkeeper Kile Kilkenny.
33-year-old Honos moves to Kingston Heath Soccer Complex after spending the last six months with the Sharks where he scored three goals in 12 appearances.
The attacking midfielder has spent the majority of his career in the Greek second tier although he also featured in the Greece Superleague in 2005 with Egaleo.
He returned to Melbourne in mid-2012 and agreed terms with the Oakleigh Cannons whom he featured for in a losing Grand Final that season.
After 12 appearances and two goals for the club, Honos moved to JL Murphy Reserve in 2013 helping newly promoted Port achieve mid-table safety in his first season at the club before assisting the memorable stoppage time equaliser on the final day of the 2014 season which saved the club from relegation.
He re-joined Oakleigh ahead of the 2015 NPL season and was a first-team regular under both Miron Bleiberg and Arthur Papas at Jack Edwards Reserve where he played alongside his older brother John who was a Bentleigh junior.
An experienced campaigner, the technically gifted midfielder has played 92 league games in the Victorian top-flight, scoring 13 goals in the process.
27-year-old Kennedy returns to Bentleigh having served as an understudy to Peter Gavalas during the 2011 VPL campaign, making four appearances between the sticks for the Greens.
Born in Cobram, the goalkeeper graduated from the VIS in 2006 and featured for Dandenong Thunder and Sunshine George Cross in State League One in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
He then played college soccer in the United States at Auburn University Montgomery before returning to Victoria in 2011 to join the Greens.
A spell with the Fawkner Blues followed in 2012 before Kennedy made the bold switch to Iceland where he spent two years playing for KF Fjarðabyggðar and was memorably the centre of a satirical story which related to his absence from the 2014 Socceroos World Cup squad.
He returned home at the beginning of the year and featured 13 times for the Goulburn Valley Suns, producing a number of impressive displays in goal at the Shepparton-based outfit.
The duo join Kieran Dover as new additions to the Greens dressing room with Kennedy replacing departed goalkeeper Kane Pierce who has moved to Brisbane.
Both players are available for Friday night’s trip to Kevin Bartlett Reserve to take on Richmond SC.
