Melbourne Heart FC forward Michael Mifsud believes that there is still plenty to salvaged out of the season for his side, starting with this weeks Melbourne Derby.
Mifsud registered on the score sheet for the first time this season, netting Heart’s only goal in their 2-1 loss to Sydney FC.
“Well, personally I’m happy I got the goal but its not about me, its about the team and about the club and of course we were disappointed [about the] last game,” Mifsud said.
“We didn’t get a win or at least a point because I think we deserved it, but thats passed now, we’re focused on our next game which is the derby and its a good game to turn things around.”
Heart have now gone ten games this season without a victory and will be looking to climb off the bottom of the ladder this weekend with a win against their hometown rivals.
Set to line up in his first Melbourne Derby, the Maltese international is nevertheless aware of the importance of the fixture.
“Everybody speaks about derbys and this is a hot derby, its an important game and we are preparing well as a team for.”
“Its a great stage to turn things around and like I said before; It’s an important game for us like every other game but its a bit extra important because its the derby of course.”
A win for Heart on Saturday night could be just the thing required to kick start their season and ease the pressure off coach John Aloisi who failed to earn the reassurance of the board this week.
“I still believe we can achieve something [this season],” Mifsud said.
“We’ve shown that we are a good side, we’ve played away from home and outplayed a team it’s just we didn’t get the good result.”
“Everyone can see that we are playing good football, we are creating chances and we are just waiting for the result.”
