Port Melbourne have built on their mid-season transfer activity with the acquisition of James Papadimitriou for the remainder of the 2017 season.
Papadimitriou departs Northcote after netting seven times in all competitions – six goals in 23 league appearances – as Hercules sit 10 points clear of Moreland Zebras in NPL2, recently bowed out of the FFA Cup.
The 23-year-old joined Northcote this time last season from Moreland Zebras and was a double signing alongside Danny Charalambous, the latter signing from 2015 champions Bentleigh Greens.
The Ex-Zebra will be hoping to add to his goal tally as well as lift Port Melbourne up the congested mid-table as they now currently sit two points above the relegation play-off spot.
Papadimitriou described his time at Northcote as enjoyable.
“It’s a great club and has a lot of passionate people that work hard behind the scenes,” the striker said.
It is believed that Papadimtriou will link up with former Melbourne Victory striker Francesco Stella for the Sharks and will hopefully lift Port up the table and push for a finals finish.
He will link up with former coach Dom Barba, whom he previously played under at the then-Whittlesea Zebras, with the latter handing him his senior debut.
“I’ve worked with Dom in the past, he is someone who I think will get the most out of me and I am looking forward to working under him again,” he said.
Port Melbourne are away to Oakleigh Cannons this Friday night in what will be a crucial game for both sides to boost their finals chances.
