Melbourne City superstar David Villa appears unlikely to complete his 10 game guest stint in Australia, with a return to the United States almost imminent.
The 32-year-old inked a ten match contract with the newly re-branded Melbourne City after signing with brother club New York City FC, but may depart after only four games into his loan spell.
It is believed New York are keen on luring the World Cup winner back to the States in order to commence marketing strategies ahead of the Major League soccer season which kicks off in January.
Sources close to the club additionally revealed the former Barcelona and Atletico Madrid star was eager on returning to New York in order to assist his young family adjust to life in America.
However, Melbourne City officials are confident the Spaniard will return to the A-League at some stage to fulfil the remainder of his contract.
