Victorian Women’s Premier League youngsters Emma Checker, Beattie Goad, Monique Iannella and Annabelle Martin have all been selected in the Young Matildas squad for the AFF Women’s Championship, to be held in Vietnam.
The tournament, which will run from the 1st-10th of May, sees the Australian youngsters test their mettle against seven senior national team outfits across Asia, including Thailand, Myanmar and hosts Vietnam.
Both Checker and Goad were a part of the previous Melbourne Victory W-League campaign, and the pair have been in good form at club side for Ashburton United and Bulleen Lions respectively.
Fullback Monique Ianella has plied her trade at Bundoora this season, and has been an integral part of United’s surge to the top of the table.
NTC captain Annabelle Martin has also shown great form in 2015, with a number of scintillating displays marauding down the right flank.
The four players will miss this weekend’s Team App Cup fixtures as well as Round Seven of the WPL the following week.
